From Groves to Shopping Centers

Interest in epoxy flooring in Sweetwater has grown along with the city. Wikipedia says a 2010 annexation tripled its size and brought Dolphin Mall inside city limits. A 2021 annexation of about 2 square miles doubled it again, adding Telemundo's headquarters and many companies and stores. The city now counts 14 shopping centers and over 600 businesses.

Commercial floors

Retail and office space dominate the newer parts of the city. For those floors we usually suggest:

stockrooms and back halls: a tough epoxy that handles carts and pallet jacks,
break rooms and kitchens: a sealed finish with slip texture,
display floors: a decorative metallic or flake look that still cleans easily,
mechanical rooms: a chemical-resistant coat.

We can work at night or on weekends so stores and offices stay open.

Homes with a long history

The original plat, Sweetwater Groves, was laid out during the 1920s land boom, and lots went on sale after 1938. The city was incorporated in 1941. Wikipedia cites 4,353 residential housing units today. Garages in older homes often need more prep, and newer homes on annexed land may need less. We judge each slab in person.

Near the university

Florida International University's main campus sits just south of the city line, and Keiser University and others have campuses in the north part of the city. Rental homes near campus can turn over often. A sealed laundry room or storage floor is easier to clean between tenants.

Dense and busy

The 2020 census put density at 8,833 people per square mile. In tight neighborhoods we keep our work area neat, contain dust with vacuums attached to our grinders and keep trucks out of neighbors' way.

Choosing between flake and solid color

For a back office or a stockroom, a solid gray or tan coat with a clear topcoat is simple and easy to keep clean. For a home garage, flake keeps dust and tire marks from showing between cleanings. We bring samples of both to the site visit so you can decide in person.

Sweetwater Questions

Can you coat a store floor without closing during business hours?

Yes. We schedule overnight or on closed days and use fast-cure topcoats so the floor is ready when you open.

What floor works for a retail display area?

A metallic epoxy or a fine flake blend gives a polished look. We seal it with a clear topcoat so it stays easy to clean.

Do you coat small apartment laundry rooms?

Yes. A sealed floor stops water from soaking in and makes cleanup easy. Most small rooms take a day or two.

How do you control dust in a dense neighborhood?

We use grinders hooked to dust extractors and clean up each day. Neighbors should not see a cloud of concrete dust.
